Early in 2024, Venmo will no longer be an option for payment at Amazon's checkout, the company has confirmed.

In an email to customers, the company announced that it would be discontinuing the PayPal-owned payment option as of January 10, 2024, but it provided no further explanation.

What exactly is Venmo?

With Venmo, you can send and receive money with friends. Even for business purposes, like making payments for products and services, you can use it. You can simply pay your share using Venmo, for instance, if you want to split a rideshare fare. Alternatively, you can use this mobile payment service to send your friend a request for the necessary funds if they forgot to pay you for dinner last night.

There are other apps, besides Venmo, that allow users to send and receive money. Similar services are provided by a number of substitutes, such as Paypal and Cash App.

Venmo could no longer be added as a method on Amazon as of last Thursday.

Without the PayPal-owned direct payment application, there were still several other options for Amazon customers.

Those still being accepted included Visa, American Express, Discover or Mastercard accounts, checking accounts, or prepaid credit or gift cards from Amazon, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
